Appler, who played for Kiwoom, joins Taiwan Professional Baseball Fubang
Tyler Appler (30), who played an active role as a foreign pitcher for the Kiwoom Heroes of professional baseball last year, has made a new nest in Taiwanese professional baseball.
Taiwan Professional Baseball (CPBL) Fubang Guardians announced on the 6th that they had recruited Appler as a new foreign player.
Appler’s Taiwanese league registration name is Aeboleuk (艾普勒) by adding ‘ssuk-ae’, ‘broad-bo’, and ‘bridle-leuk’.
Appler, who joined Kiwoom last season, started 33 games in the regular season and threw 140⅓ innings, going 6-8 with an ERA of 4.30, falling short of expectations.
At the beginning of the season, he won a shutout victory against the Lotte Giants in 9 innings with 3 hits and 4 balls, but was dropped from the starting rotation at the end of the season due to a monotonous pitch.
Instead, he left a strong impression in the postseason.
In the 3rd game of the semi-playoff against kt wiz, he won the victory with a good pitching of 5 innings and 1 run, and in the 4th game of the playoffs with the LG Twins, he endured with 1 run in 6 innings, helping Kiwoom to advance to the Korean Series.
Appler wanted to play more in the KBO League, but failed to renew his contract with his club, so he turned to overseas leagues.
Appler said on his social network service (SNS) Instagram, “I am very grateful to the Fubang club for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to seeing you on the ground soon.”
Fubang, which is based in New Taipei City, Taiwan, is a team with a deep relationship with Korean baseball.
Actively recruiting foreign players from the KBO League, Scott McGregor and Henry Sosa, who played for Kiwoom in the past, played for this team.
Han Hee-min, 메이저놀이터 who played an active role as the ace of the Binggrae (now Hanwha) Eagles in the past, joined the Junguo Bears, the predecessor of Fubang, in 1994 and became the first Korean player to advance to the Taiwan league.메이저놀이터
