‘Jung-soo Shim’ Jong-hyun signs 470 million won contract with ML Arizona…’Hercules’ reputation to continue

Shim Jong-hyun (Kevin Shim), the son of “Hercules” star Shim Jung-soo, is following in his father’s footsteps.

According to MLB.com, a local U.S. media outlet, “Shim Jong-hyun signed a contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks for $375,000 (approximately $470,000),” on July 20 (KST).

Earlier, Shim was selected by Arizona in the fifth round (148th overall) on the second day of the MLB Draft on April 11.

The University of San Diego alum followed in his father’s footsteps by batting .298 with 13 home runs, 40 RBIs and a 1.025 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) in 38 NCAA games this year.

“Sim is the son and descendant of the famous player known as ‘Hercules,’ who hit more than 300 home runs in 15 years in the KBO,” MLB.com wrote at the time, “and he too possesses tremendous power.”

“I shared my efforts with my father, who was the best player in the game 먹튀검증,” said Shim, adding that he hopes to do well in the future.

Shim, meanwhile, was a center fielder for the OB Bears (now Doosan), Hyundai Unicorns, and Samsung Lions from 1994 to 2008, and is a hard-hitting slugger who finished his KBO career with a .287 batting average and 328 home runs in 1,450 games.
