Seoul→Busan→Daejeon and ‘to Paris!’…Lee Kang-in PSG official is ‘just a matter of time’

Lee Kang-In’s move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is all but official.

Lee’s move to PSG has taken a turn for the worse recently. At first, Atletico Madrid were the most heavily linked. According to Spanish media outlet Relevo, Atletico had been interested in Lee since January, and tried to convince Mallorca with a €12 million deal that included their winger Rodrigo Riquelme. However, Mallorca wanted more than €20 million (KRW 275 million) in cash and negotiations stalled.

In the meantime, PSG has entered the race to sign Lee. On March 12 (KST), Juanmi Sanchez, a reporter for Spanish outlet Marca, said, “PSG is the latest team to enter the race for Lee Kang-in. Director Luis Campos has been waiting for Lee this season,” and raised the speculation of PSG signing Lee.

And the PSG transfer rumors have taken a dramatic turn. PSG outbid Atletico and convinced Mallorca to sign Lee. On the 13th, France’s RMC Sport reported that “PSG offered 22 million euros (about 303 billion won) for Lee Kang-in”. This was more than the 20 million euros (approximately 27.5 billion won) that Mallorca wanted, so Mallorca accepted. 스포츠토토

It was also reported that Lee Kang-in had completed his medical tests. “Lee has already passed the PSG medical in Paris earlier this week,” said Loic Tanji of France’s L’Equipe on the 13th.

Mallorca’s top official, Juanmi Sanchez, and France’s Loic Tansey confirmed Lee’s move to PSG, and the transfer market’s top official, Fabrizio Romano, said it was “only a matter of time” before Lee’s move. “PSG has reached a verbal agreement with Lee Kang-in on a long-term contract,” Romano wrote on social media on Thursday. The medical has already been completed and the final details have been organized between the parties. He will join PSG very soon.”

Meanwhile, Lee Kang-in is currently in South Korea for the A-Match. Lee has been called up to the national team and is preparing to face Peru at the Busan Asiad Stadium on June 16 at 8pm and El Salvador at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium on June 20 at 8pm.

Lee, who arrived in South Korea on July 7, held his first personal fan signing in Seoul and has been busy training with the national team. With the PSG medical completed, Lee is expected to finalize his move to PSG after the A-match. “Lee Kang-in will sign a contract with PSG as soon as he returns from the national team,” confirmed Loic Tanji of France’s L’Equipe.
