Son Jun-ho enters second week of detention in China… KFA officials leave next week to assess situation

It’s been two weeks since South Korean national soccer team midfielder Son Jun-ho was detained in China. Officials from the Korean Football Association (KFA) are traveling to China next week to assess the situation. 먹튀검증

According to a News1 report on May 25, Son Jun-ho has been under investigation by public security since May 12 in connection with match-fixing at his club Shandong Taishan. The South Korean consul met with him for an interview on the 17th, but was unable to comment on the case, and two weeks have passed without knowing the exact reason for his detention.

The KFA has also decided to take a proactive approach. KFA CEO Jeon Han-jin and his lawyer have applied for visas to China. “We will be traveling to China as early as next week,” said a KFA official, “We will go to the consulate and then move together to get the information we need and do what we can locally.”

However, the likelihood of a face-to-face meeting with Son Jun-ho is reportedly not high. Son is also reportedly unable to contact his family.

“We don’t have any information this time,” said a KFA official, “Even the Chinese Football Association staff replied that there was nothing they could do because it was related to public security, not soccer.”
